The mission of FLI Socks is to support first-generation, low-income college students by turning socks into scholarships. As an educator, I have noticed how the increasing cost of a college education can negatively impact very deserving students, especially those who are from first-generation and low-income families. At the same time, government support has also decreased, adding to the amount of loans student needs to finance their education. According to recent numbers, on average, college students graduate with about $28,000 in debt for a Bachelor’s degree.
Why socks? A few years ago, I decided to spice up my work wardrobe and show a bit of my playful personality with colorful dress socks. Around the same time, as I was reading about corporate philanthropy initiatives, I began to think about how to merge something fun with something I'm passionate about—helping students. I thought about my socks and I asked myself, “Why not socks for scholarships?”.
That's when FLI Socks was born.
In education, FLI is an acronym commonly used to describe first-generation, and low-income students. It’s also a play on the word “fly”, as in looking good. Which is what you’ll be by wearing our products.
We are focused on delivering comfortable and high-quality products that you'll love and want to share with your friends and family, both for the mission we support, and for the quality and comfort we provide.
Now you can look your FLI-est and, at the same time, help FLI students embark on a new chapter in their lives. With your support, we can transform their lives and the communities they call home.
